An honest review of Cook Unity Meal delivery from an eating disorder dietitian.
As an eating disorder dietitian, I find CookUnity* to be an excellent meal delivery resource for those looking for convenient, high-quality meals while managing dietary needs or preferences. The platform offers an impressive variety of options, making it easier for individuals to select meals that align with their unique needs, whether that’s gluten-free, dairy-free, plant-based, or other specific preferences or needs. The filtering system is incredibly helpful, allowing users to customize their meal choices without feeling overwhelmed.

Cook Unity Meals Food Options
From a nutritional standpoint, I appreciate the transparency of the ingredient lists and the care that goes into creating balanced, filling meals. I have mixed opinions on having calories and nutrition information listed–for many this can be helpful information for some, and for my eating disorder clients it can make it challenging to try new things. I like being able to see the calories so I have a general idea if a meal is likely to be filling for me or not, but again think it could be a challenge for many of my clients.
Pros of Cook Unity Meal Delivery:
For clients, having access to chef-prepared food from a meal delivery service can be a game-changer when they struggle with meal prep or decision fatigue around food choices. It’s great to see meals designed with quality, taste, and variety in mind. I love the option to sort by cuisine as well! The flavor is exceptional, and we’ve only had one or two meals we didn’t love. It has helped me stay well nourished on days where making another decision feels impossible or I’m too busy to prepare food. The meals are “heat and eat” so do not require any prep work. They come with directions for heating in microwave and oven on each package.
Options to filter by include: Cuisine, Chef, Diets, Protein and Preferences. You can also sort by some macronutrient data if desired.

Cons of Cook Unity Meal Delivery:
On the downside, the service is on the pricier side, which could make it less accessible to many people. Meals average around ~$12 when ordering 8 per week. For many, it is cheaper and quicker than many of the takeout options nearby, so it saves time and money.
Additionally, there is quite a bit of packaging involved, which, while recyclable, may require a commitment to regularly managing recycling waste. Shout out to my husband for dealing with the recycling.
Every once in a while, the meat is a little drier than I’d like but that happens at home too. The beef options often tend to be cooked to medium-well once reheated.
Overall, for those who can afford it and are seeking an easy way to get nutritious, diet-specific meals delivered, CookUnity is an excellent option.
