Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Dietitian to join our team at Huntsville Nutrition Collective. You will play a vital role in promoting health and well-being through personalized nutrition counseling. You must possess a non-diet approach to nutrition, belief in Health at Every Size approaches and strong interest in working with eating disorders.
Duties:
- Conduct thorough client assessments to determine nutritional needs, taking into account medical history, lifestyle, and dietary preferences.
- Monitor clients’ progress and make necessary adjustments to their nutrition plans as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including doctors and therapists, to ensure coordinated care for clients.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field of nutrition and dietetics.
- Utilize your knowledge of physiology to assess the impact of various nutrients on the body.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations to identify nutritional deficiencies or imbalances.
- Provide evidence-based treatment in both individual and group settings for eating disorders.
- Assist clients and supports in helping the client transform their maladaptive eating patterns into a healthy relationship with food.
- Assess nutritional status along with target weight range for clients and prescribe proper meal plans to help clients meet individualized goals.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to facilitate clients’ progress based on the client’s unique needs.
- Reassess nutritional needs and target weight on an ongoing basis and communicate recommendations to the treatment team and families.
- Deliver evidence-based nutrition education geared toward challenging eating disorder thoughts and beliefs around food/nutrition, weight and shape.
- Establish a therapeutic relationships with clients and supports, including rapport building, appropriate boundary setting, and a working alliance with team and family toward treatment goals
- Meet with supports and/or clients at the necessary intervals, which will include an initial nutrition assessment and subsequent follow up sessions
- Guide process of exposure to fear/challenge foods, while participating in exposure with clients at times
Skills:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree at a US accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) and an RDN credential. We ARE NOT currently hiring RD-eligible candidates.
- Maintain an active license to practice in the state of Alabama and in the state(s) that their clients reside and willing to become licensed in other states
- Prefer some experience working with eating disorders, but not required and willing to train
- Must possess a strong non-diet approach to nutrition
- Strong skills in communication and collaboration with diverse teams
- Experience working on interdisciplinary teams
- Organized and results-driven
- Self-motivated worker
- Ability to understand and balance business needs and clinical priorities
- Comfortable working with diverse populations, LGBTQ+ affirming
